Forgot Kidslox parent password and kid deleted the app. How to remove kidslox completely now? iPhone says “configuration profile” stuck.
Hello kidsloxfail26,
A stuck configuration profile is a common issue with parental control apps on iOS.
First, try resetting your Kidslox password through their website using your registered email. Regaining account access is the simplest way to remove the profile properly.
If that fails, the most reliable method is a full factory reset. Back up the iPhone to iCloud or a computer first. Then, connect the device to a computer and use iTunes (or Finder on newer macOS) to restore it to factory settings. This process completely erases the phone, including the stubborn profile. Specialized MDM removal tools also exist, but a factory reset is the most surefire solution.
Sounds like the Kidslox MDM profile is still on the iPhone. Try this, in order:
- Check status: Settings > General > About. If you see “Supervised” or under Settings > General > VPN & Device Management it says managed by an organization, profile removal may be locked.
- Try removal: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > [Kidslox/Device Management] > Remove Management. Enter the device passcode if prompted. If Remove is missing/greyed out, it’s locked by the server.
- Regain admin access: reset your parent account password with the vendor, sign back in, and use their dashboard to remove/unmanage the device. If needed, contact their support to release the device.
- Last resort: back up the iPhone, sign out of Apple ID (Find My off), then Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Or restore via a computer in Recovery Mode. Set up as New. If you see a “Remote Management” screen during setup, it’s auto-enrolled—only the vendor can release it.
The “configuration profile” is Kidslox MDM. Try:
-
Reset your Kidslox parent password. In the parent app/web, remove the child’s device to push removal.
-
On the iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Kidslox > Remove Management. If it asks for a code, check the parent app or ask Kidslox Support to release the device.
-
If the app was deleted but the profile remains, reinstall Kidslox on the child phone, re-link, then uninstall from the parent app.
-
Last resort: Back up, then Erase All Content and Settings and set up as new. If it reappears, the phone is supervised; only the supervising account/vendor can remove it.
Need monitoring later? mSpy offers simple setup and clean removal without locking the device.

That “configuration profile” is the Kidslox MDM. Deleting the app doesn’t remove it. Your options:
- Try removing normally
- iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Kidslox profile > Remove Management.
- If it asks for a removal code, reset your Kidslox parent password, sign in to the Kidslox dashboard, and remove the device there (or contact Kidslox support to release it).
- Wipe the iPhone (clears non-DEP MDM)
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. Enter device passcode and Apple ID to turn off Find My. Set up as New (you can sign into iCloud after). Avoid restoring a backup made while Kidslox was installed.
- If erase is blocked by the profile
- Use Recovery Mode restore via a Mac/PC (Finder/iTunes), then choose Restore. Afterward, activate with the Apple ID.
If the device re-enrolls during setup, only Kidslox support can remove that assignment. Also remove any leftover Kidslox VPN under VPN settings.
That “configuration profile” is the Kidslox MDM profile. Deleting the app doesn’t remove the profile. Here’s the clean way to get it off an iPhone when you don’t remember the parent password:
- Regain access to your Kidslox parent account
- Open the Kidslox app on your phone or their web dashboard and use Forgot password to reset.
- Once in, find the child’s iPhone in your device list and choose Remove/Unlink/Uninstall profile (wording varies). Keep the child’s iPhone on Wi‑Fi and charging for a few minutes so it receives the removal command.
- Remove the profile on the iPhone
- On the child’s iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management (or Profiles) > tap the Kidslox profile > Remove Management.
- If you’re prompted for a removal code, use the one shown in the parent app/dashboard. If you don’t see Remove or it’s greyed out, the server is still locking it—wait a few minutes after step 1 and try again.
- If it’s still stuck
- Reinstall Kidslox on your device, sign in, and issue the Remove/Unlink command again. Make sure the child’s iPhone has a stable internet connection.
- Contact Kidslox Support and ask them to push a profile removal to that device. Provide the child device name and iOS version.
- Last resort
- Erase All Content and Settings on the iPhone and set it up as new (don’t restore from a backup made while the profile was installed). This typically clears consumer configuration profiles. Then set it up again and reinstall your controls.
Extra tip: After removal, also check Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN and delete any leftover Kidslox VPN entries.
If you’re switching solutions, Eyezy has a simpler dashboard and remote management so you can add/remove devices without these hiccups. It also includes social media and web activity monitoring, alerts, and location tools in one place.

Hey kidsloxfail26, a stuck configuration profile is a common issue.
First, navigate to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Tap on the Kidslox profile and select “Remove Management.” Often, it will only ask for your device passcode, not the app-specific password.
If that doesn’t work, a factory reset is the surefire way to remove it. For future device management, I recommend using a tool like mSpy (https://www.mspy.com/). Its setup is straightforward, and management is much more reliable, avoiding these kinds of lock-out issues.
If the app is gone but the Kidslox configuration profile remains, try this:
-
Recover your Kidslox account: reinstall Kidslox on the parent device, use “Forgot password,” sign in, then remove the child device from the parent app/portal. On the iPhone: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management (or Profiles) > Kidslox > Remove Profile.
-
If “Remove Profile” asks for a code you don’t have or is greyed out: it’s supervised. Contact Kidslox support and ask them to unenroll the device from their MDM.
-
No account access? Back up the iPhone, then Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Set up as new. If you see a “Remote Management” screen during setup, it’s still supervised—only Kidslox can release it.
-
Also check Screen Time separately: Settings > Screen Time > Turn Off Screen Time (with your Apple ID).
-
As a last resort, restore via Finder/iTunes (DFU), knowing you’ll need the Apple ID for activation.
