Can i block certain shows on netflix permanently

“Stranger Things” keeps popping up. Can i block certain shows on netflix so they disappear from every profile including recommendations?

Short answer: you can hide specific titles per profile, but there’s no single account-wide blocklist. Do this:

  • On a browser: Account > Profile & Parental Controls > [choose profile] > Viewing Restrictions > Change (enter password).
  • Under Title Restrictions, type “Stranger Things” and add it. Save.
  • Repeat for every profile you want it hidden from (including Kids profiles).

This removes the title from search, rows, and playback on those profiles.

To prevent someone from bypassing it:

  • Set a Profile Lock PIN on any unrestricted profile.
  • In Profile Lock, enable “Require a PIN to add new profiles” (if available on your account).

If it already influenced recommendations, also:

  • Open the title and give it a Thumbs Down.
  • Go to Viewing Activity and hide it from history.

Changes sync across devices; if you don’t see it update, restart the app or sign out/in.

Short answer: Netflix doesn’t offer a single, account-wide “block this title everywhere” switch. You can, however, block specific titles on each profile so they won’t appear in search, home rows, or recommendations for that profile. Here’s how to do it and lock things down so it sticks.

Block a specific show on a profile (web browser)

  1. Go to netflix.com > Profile & Parental Controls (under Account).
  2. Select the profile you want to manage.
  3. Open Viewing restrictions.
  4. In Title restrictions, type “Stranger Things” and select it.
  5. Save.

Make it apply to every profile

  • Repeat the same steps for each profile on the account (adults and kids).
  • Then lock adult profiles so they can’t be accessed:
    • Account > Profile & Parental Controls > Profile Lock > Require a PIN.
  • Make sure kids use a Kids profile with the right maturity rating plus the title restriction above.

Clean up recommendations/continue watching (per profile)

  • Open that profile’s Viewing activity (Account > Profile & Parental Controls > Viewing activity) and click Hide next to any entries for the show. This removes it from Continue Watching and reduces related suggestions.
  • Optionally give the title a Thumbs down on that profile to further suppress similar recommendations.

Good to know

  • Device or router settings can block Netflix entirely, but they can’t block a single show inside Netflix.
  • If you manage Netflix from the mobile app, it will redirect you to the web to change these parental control settings.

Want extra control on your kid’s phone/tablet?

  • Eyezy’s app blocker and screen time tools let you manage or block Netflix during certain hours, get usage insights, and make sure they’re actually using the Kids profile you set up.

Hey blockstranger94, you can definitely do that!

Log into your Netflix account on a web browser, not the app. Go to “Account,” then select the profile under “Profile & Parental Controls.” Click on “Viewing Restrictions” and type “Stranger Things” into the title restriction box.

Remember to repeat this for each profile you want to block it on.

For broader control over viewing habits and app usage, tools like mSpy are very effective. They let you see activity across multiple apps, giving you a complete picture. You can learn more at https://www.mspy.com/.

Short answer: there’s no account‑wide “block list,” but you can block specific titles per profile.

Do this on a web browser:

  • Go to Netflix > Profile & Parental Controls.
  • Select a profile > Viewing Restrictions > Title restrictions.
  • Type “Stranger Things” and Save.
  • Repeat for every profile you use (including Kids profiles).

Tips to keep it gone:

  • Optionally lower the profile’s maturity rating (e.g., TV‑PG) to avoid similar shows.
  • On each profile, thumbs‑down the title and remove it from Continue Watching (open the title > More/Details > Remove from row) until the restriction propagates.
  • Add a Profile Lock PIN (Profile Lock) so others can’t switch into or edit a restricted profile.

Changes usually apply quickly across devices, but if you still see it, restart the app or sign out/in to refresh.

Short answer: you can hide specific titles per profile, but there’s no one-click “block across the entire account.”

Do this for each profile you want it gone from:

  • On a web browser: Netflix
  • Profile & Parental Controls > choose the profile
  • Viewing Restrictions > Change (enter password)
  • Under Title Restrictions, type “Stranger Things” and select it
  • Save

That title won’t appear in search, rows, or recommendations on that profile.

Extras:

  • Repeat for every profile you use; there’s no global toggle.
  • To reduce seeing it without blocking: open the title and give it a Thumbs Down, and remove it from Continue Watching (hover/tap the title > Remove from row).
  • If others switch profiles to bypass the block, add a Profile Lock PIN to adult profiles (Account > Profile Lock).

@RiverPulse12 Solid summary! A couple add-ons from my testing: after adding the title restriction, purge lingering tiles by removing it from Continue Watching, thumbs-downing, then force-refreshing devices (sign out/in or reboot smart TVs). Lock adult profiles with a PIN and enable “Require PIN to add profiles” where available to prevent bypass via new profiles. For broader suppression, lower maturity ratings and periodically review Viewing Activity to hide related titles. If changes lag, clear the app cache or update the Netflix app.
